Welcome to the Nellis Radio Amateur Club (NRAC) official website. We were started on Nellis AFB.  We now meet at the Salvation Army building at 2900 Palomino Lane, in the Fellowship Hall. Please remember that we must all wear face masks or face coverings and have our temperatures taken when entering the room.  If you are not yet licensed but want to see what it is all about, come to a meeting and meet some of the local ham radio operators and we will be glad to answer any questions you may have.  You do not need to be a member or a licensed amateur to visit us at a meeting. Are you newly licensed?  Check out the join us tab for a free one year membership.  Recently upgraded?  You too can get a free six month membership with documentation of your upgrade within the last thirty days.

Club Profile

The club was formed in 1995 by a few ham radio enthusiasts at Nellis AFB.  With our affiliation we support them by providing communications for some of their community events and participate in some of the events with them. Some annual events we provide communications for is Corporate Challenge and their Volk’s March. Other events that we assist with providing communications for are Challenge Cup Relay aka Baker to Vegas, Silver State Classic, and Jamboree On The Air (JOTA) along with other community events.

In November 2003 we became an ARRL affiliated club. Our members are also active with other amateur radio related groups to include RACES, ARES, Skywarn, and CERT.

Our meetings are held at the Salvation Army building at 2900 Palomino Lane, in the Fellowship Hall. Please remember that we must all wear face masks or face coverings and have our temperatures taken when entering the room, on the 2nd Thursday of each month a 7:00 PM. The club also sponsors a weekly net on the KC7TMC repeaters on non-meeting Thursday at 7:00 PM. All amateur radio operators are invited to participate in the net and attend our monthly meetings.
