| | If you have an interest in Amateur Radio and would like to study for your No-Code Technician license or upgrade to General license, there is a team of professionals that can help you in a fun and exciting classroom environment. Classes are held twice a year (starting in mid-January and again in the fall) at the Outdoor Adventure building classroom on Nellis Air Force Base. They are every Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:00pm to 9:00pm, except holidays. Classes last about eight weeks and the cost is $25.00 plus the cost of the book for the class, approximately $20.00, which can be purchased from Amateur Electronic Supply in Las Vegas, or from Radio World in Boulder City.
- No-Code Technician
- This is the first license you get when you start out on your adventure in amateur radio. Even if you do not understand electronics, the instructors will teach you everything you need to know to confidently pass the test. This class is held during the fall, the book that is required is ARRL's "Now You're Talking".5th edition. This book costs approximately $20.00. Class began September 8, 2008. There is still time to get started on your license.
- General Class License
- This is your next license as an amateur radio operator, first step in HF contacts. This class normally starts in mid-January, the book you will need is ARRL's "General Class License Manual", 4th edition. This book costs approximately $15.00. Classes begin January 7, 2008.
